Privacy

• The answers you tap, and anything you chose to type, with your answer to any extra question you were asked.
• The word your child calls you, and their first name only if you choose to give it.
• The letters written for you, what was left out of them, and any guessed replies written for you.
• Your email address, once you pay or ask us to email you a link. Until then we do not have it.
• Counts of how many people reach each step: that a letter was written, not what it said.

• We do not sell your information to anybody, for any amount.
• We do not run advertising trackers. There is no Facebook pixel and no Google Analytics on this site. The only cookies are the two that keep you signed in and remember which letter you are working on.
• We do not contact your child. Ever, for any reason. We have no way to and we would not.
• We do not email you except to send a link you asked for, and once when you pay, to confirm the payment and give you a link that signs you in to your letter.

To write your letter, your answers are sent to Anthropic, the company that makes Claude, the program that does the writing. They process it to produce the letter. They do not use it to train their models.

Stripe handles payment and sees your card details; we never do. Stripe also asks for your email address when you pay and passes it to us, and that is the address your account is made from. Resend sends the emails and sees your email address. Vercel runs the website and stores the database.

If you press the microphone, your speech is turned into text by your browser’s own speech recognition, which for most people means Apple or Google handles the audio; we never receive the recording, only the words that appear in the box.

That is the whole list. No one else is involved, and no human at First Letter reads your answers as a matter of course.

Write to us and we will delete your account, every answer and every letter, permanently, within seven days. We will confirm when it is done. You do not have to give a reason.

This service is for adults writing to their adult children. It is not for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly keep information about them.
